Cloud Run: Error: Forbidden — Your client does not have permission to get URL / from this server
The Cloud Run service requires authentication and the caller has no valid identity token or the roles/run.invoker role.
Your client does not have permission to get URL from this serverError: Forbidden Your client does not have permission403 Forbidden Cloud Run run.invokerYour client does not have permission to the requested URLCloud Run Forbidden Your client does not have permission Meaning
Services deployed without --allow-unauthenticated demand an ID token. Either make it public (allUsers with roles/run.invoker), or send Authorization: Bearer $(gcloud auth print-identity-token). Service-to-service calls need the calling service account to hold run.invoker on the target. An organisation policy may block allUsers.
Common causes
- No Authorization header on a private service
- Caller lacks roles/run.invoker
- Token audience (URL) wrong
- Domain-restricted-sharing org policy blocks allUsers
- Ingress set to internal only
⚡ Quick fix
- For testing:
curl -H "Authorization: Bearer $(gcloud auth print-identity-token)" URL - Grant
roles/run.invokerto the caller's service account - Public service:
gcloud run services add-iam-policy-binding SERVICE --member=allUsers --role=roles/run.invoker
Detailed fix by platform
gcloud
gcloud run services add-iam-policy-binding SERVICE --member="serviceAccount:caller@PROJECT.iam.gserviceaccount.com" --role=roles/run.invoker --region REGION
How to diagnose
- Auth — Token sent?
- Role — run.invoker granted?
- Policy — allUsers blocked?
